Thanks, Christy, for expressing so well my feelings about the changing seasons! I loved what you wrote about not wanting to give up certain asoects of the previous season. I can't say that I've ever really thought about that, but I can certainly relate to it. Thanks for the lovely poem!

This is music to my writer ears: that you could relate, and I was able to articulate something in a new way! Thank you for reading and for this lovely comment :)

My two favorite lines of the sonnet:

Flax flowers stood suddenly on tiptoe,

Once again, by spring, I was romanced.

The last line made me smile. Lovely writing as usual, Chris. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Lovely sonnet! You captured the beauty of Spring.

I love the awakening of Spring! Especially the native flowers along the trails…foam flowers, trout Lily, Bloodroot, Virginia Bluebells, Dutchmen Breeches…just to name a few. I am still recuperating from total knee replacement and although I am doing well, I am not able to hike yet. I am really missing not being out in the woods to observe all the signs of new life.

Total knee replacement! Sending love in your recovery, and glad to hear you're doing well. 💛 Surely the missing out now will come back to you tenfold when you can be out on your new knee!
